Volvo Penta brought a quiet Arctic escape to CES, using an installation of interactive experiences, immersive film and spatial audio to transport visitors onto Kvitbjørn, its near silent hybrid powered vessel. These elements showed how low impact propulsion enables serene exploration of fragile environments. In the midst of the show’s noise, the experience stood out and introduced Volvo Penta’s sustainable marine vision to new audiences.

First conceived by Olivier Bau and Uros Petrevski in 2009, this concept introduces a gestural sculpting tool that lets users shape three dimensional forms through hand movements alone. At its core, the object functions as a self organising Kohonen neural network, allowing it to interpret gestures and continuously adapt its shape to follow the contours traced by the user.

We partnered with Swedish health-tech startup Vitalynx as the key collaborators driving the brand, design, communication and international launch. Our role covered shaping the brand and product experience, building the design system, defining the communication strategy and supporting the go-to-market rollout. Together we delivered a complete brand foundation from concept to launch in China with fitness events and influencer marketing.

The new Volvo Penta IPS professional platform is the largest engine system in the company’s range, bringing higher efficiency, flexibility and comfort to large professional vessels and superyachts. It supports multiple future-ready energy sources while extending the proven IPS performance to a new class of boats. A full-scale 1:1 digital immersive installation was created to avoid shipping the massive engine system to exhibitions worldwide.
